Netwatch provides the user with immediate notification of fault conditions or impending trouble across their network. Access to alarm information is available from your web browser in the same easy-to-use style as other ORBi-TEL7 modules. Netwatch is another module in Nu Technologies’ ongoing developments to make the wealth of ORBi-TEL7 data easier for users to access.
Authorised users are able to access Netwatch from the ORBi-TEL7 menu. A summary page of alarm information is presented in a separate window and can remain in the background until required, thus providing up-to-date status of alarms in an unobtrusive manner. The summary page identifies sites with current alarms and the data refreshes at a predefined rate, e.g. every 6 seconds.
Alarm detail is displayed by simply clicking on a site on the summary page. This will open a new window listing alarms for the selected site. The alarm records are colour-coded and displayed in chronological order.
By opening multiple windows the user can view alarms from connected sites for end-to-end analysis.
The following data is displayed for each alarm record:
- Alarm id
- Brief description (PABX alarms are converted to plain English)
Alarm records can be filtered and sorted by status and priority. They are colour-coded according to their status; "New" alarms in red, "Acknowledged" alarms in amber and "Cleared" alarms are in green. The user can change the status and add a note if required. The contents of the screen can be printed for record keeping or for issuing to technicians.
